Dr. Alex Annan Abakah is an accomplished finance scholar, consultant, and social entrepreneur with a deep commitment to the energy and agricultural sectors. He holds a PhD in Finance from Rutgers University, an MS in Economics from Purdue University's Mitch Daniels School of Business, an MS in Statistics from the University of Vermont, and a BSc in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana.
Dr. Abakah is currently a finance academic at Bentley University in the United States, where he has taught a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses, including fixed income securities, international finance, corporate governance, and micro-lending. His research spans public debt, corporate finance, governance, and banking, and has been published in leading finance journals such as Financial Management, Journal of Corporate Finance, and Finance Review. His article in Financial Management was recognized in 2020 as one of the journal's top three papers of the year. He also serves on the editorial board of Public Finance and Management and regularly reviews for prominent journals, including Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Business Research, Global Finance Journal, and Finance Research Letters.
Beyond academia, Dr. Abakah is deeply engaged in energy, cocoa farming, and rural development. Through his holding company, he is actively involved in energy commodity trading and agricultural ventures, with a particular focus on empowering cocoa farmers.
